Apollo Towers Myanmar Ltd announced that it has signed a new purchase order of more than 700 new telecom towers with Norwegian firm Telenor Myanmar Ltd.
The deal comes as Telenor ramps up its telecom tower rollout around Myanmar.
The move will also provide the platform for multi-tenancy on towers, the firm said.
The firm said it is also working with a number of Myanmar-based companies in the infrastructure build-out across the country, providing opportunities for local businesses.
“We are pleased to continue working with Apollo Towers as we are entering this exciting phase of massive network roll out in Myanmar,” said Petter Furberg, chief executive officer, Telenor Myanmar.
“Building a widely available telecom infrastructure is vital for innovation in other key industries, and will drive the country’s socioeconomic development.”
Telenor Myanmar selected Apollo Towers, whose majority shares are held by Tillman Global Holdings LLC and Texas Pacific Group (TPG), as an official vendor to build and manage telecommunications infrastructure in December 2013.
Philippe Luxcey, CEO of Apollo Towers, said, “We appreciate the challenges and the opportunities [the deal] presents and are committed to providing world-class infrastructure on time for Telenor.”
