Applications for the 2016 intake for the Australia Awards Scholarships are now open, the Australian Embassy in Myanmar said in a statement.
Australia Awards Scholarships are international awards offered in Myanmar by the Australian government to the next generation of leaders for development. Through study and research, recipients are expected to develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and build people-to-people links with Australia.
The deadline for applications is April 30, the statement said.
Priority areas of study for the scholarship include education, health, agriculture, food security, economics, business, and governance (with a particular focus on economic governance).
Cross-cutting issues will also be considered including disability, gender equity, humanitarian support, disaster management, development studies, law, public policy, and international relations, the Australian Embassy said.
Australia Awards scholarships offer complete entitlements with pre-departure sessions, roundtrip airfare, monthly allowance, full tuition fees, support networks while studying and on return membership to the alumni network.
The program will also fund English language training to help an awardee meet the entry requirements of the Australian education system. The program also funds English language testing as part the selection phase.
During selection, applicants will be assessed for their professional and personal qualities, academic competence and their potential to have an impact on development challenges in Myanmar.
