BMW Gives 99 Limos for 25th ASEAN Summit

German luxury carmaker BMW is to provide a fleet of 99 BMW limousines that will serve the leaders and delegates attending the ASEAN Summit meetings in Naypyitaw this month.

BMW Asia and its authorised importer in Myanmar, Prestige Automobiles, said the companies are jointly supporting the 25th ASEAN Summit meetings by deploying the sponsored fleet of premium limousines to chauffeur ASEAN leaders and delegates attending the event.

The meetings will take place at the Myanmar International Convention Centre 2 (MICC 2).

The fleet comprises the automaker’s flagship BMW 7 Series, the BMW 5 Series Executive Sedan and the premium BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle.

“The annual ASEAN Summit meeting is a high level event which will involve key discussions around topics such as security, economy and cultural development across the region. It is fitting that we accord the distinguished leaders and delegates with a premium chauffeured ride by BMW during their stay,” said U Zin Yaw, chairman of 25th ASEAN Summit Transport Sub Committee and also the deputy minister for transport.

This follows BMW Asia and Prestige Automobiles’ sponsorship of a fleet of 70 vehicles for the transportation needs of delegates during the ASEAN Summit meetings held in Myanmar’s capital in May this year.

Thierry Weidenbach, senior regional manager for International Direct and Special Sales, BMW Group Asia, said: “BMW is proud to be associated with the ASEAN Summit for the third time.”

Chan Mya, managing director of Prestige Automobiles, said, “As the Official Limousine for the event, we are confident that the attending leaders and delegates will enjoy and appreciate the highest levels of comfort, luxury and safety during their stay when travelling in our fleet of BMW limousines.”

The fleet was officially handed over by Chan Mya and Weidenbach to Dr Kan Zaw, co-chair of the Organizing Committee for ASEAN Summit and Related meetings and also union minister for national planning and economic development, on November 7.

Prestige Automobiles Co Ltd (PAC) is a subsidiary of Octagon International Services Co Ltd (OIS), a distributor of machinery and vehicles.
