Bridgestone Test in Myanmar Finds ECOPIA EP200 16.4pc More Fuel Efficient

Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (Myanmar), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bridgestone Corp, said tests conducted on ECOPIA EP200 tyre found it to have more than 16 percent better fuel efficiency compared to cars fitted with other brand tires.

The world’s largest tire and rubber company conducted a fuel consumption test to demonstrate ECOPIA EP200’s fuel efficiency recently.

The result equates to vehicles fitted with ECOPIA EP200 attaining savings of one full tank of fuel for every six to 12 tanks of fuel used when compared to vehicles equipped with other brand tires, Bridgestone said.

The test was conducted by professional drivers in three Honda Fit (2008 model) fitted with 185/65R14 size tires – one fitted with ECOPIA tires and the other two with different sets of tires – embarking on a trip from Yangon to Phayargyi and back, travelling a total of 140 kilometres.

Key measurement factors such as fuel efficiency, tire pressure and distance covered by each vehicle were monitored using equipment such as a kiwi meter, tire pressure gauge and GPS tracker.

“As Myanmar consumers become increasingly concerned about fuel consumption and the environment, ECOPIA range of tires offer reduced rolling resistance and improved fuel efficiency,” said Shirai Yuichiro, general manager of Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (Myanmar Branch Office).

The firm said its ECOPIA tires are currently available at selected Bridgestone dealers in Myanmar.
