Can A Hotel Float? The Strand will Find Out

The Strand Hotel in Yangon will branch out its services with the development of a river cruise, known as Strand Cruise.

The cruise is scheduled to travel between Bagan and Mandalay in 3 or 4 days, and will launch in January next year. There is a discount for those who book for rthe frist three months of operations.  Passengers booking one of the two Strand Suites will have added extras such as a one-hour spa treatment of their choice and a night at The Strand Hotel before or after the trip.

Jerome Seban, general manager of Strand Cruise, said: “Having operated The Strand Hotel in Yangon for the past decade, we know that there has been a steady growth in demand from luxury travellers to explore the ancient monuments of Myanmar by using the Ayeyarwady's waterways. This demand presented us with an opportunity to reinvent the style of The Strand Hotel within a contemporary river cruise experience.”

The boat will have 27 cabins, along with other amenities such as a pool, sun deck, spa and bar. The cruise packages will include excursions, meals, drinks, local guides, and Wifi.
