Chunghwa Telecom to Set Up Myanmar Office

Taiwanese telecoms services provider Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) will set up business offices in Myanmar this year, a top executive said.

CHT will also establish an office in the Philippines in 2014, and plans to expand in India, the UK, and Latin America in 2015-2016, CHT’s International Business Group president Leng Tai-feng said.

The overseas offices will offer Chunghwa services to Taiwanese companies and promote cooperation between Chunghwa and local operators, Leng added.

In terms of both revenue and customers, Chunghwa is Taiwan’s largest provider of fixed line services, mobile services, broadband access service and internet service.

Headquartered in Taipei, Chunghwa has over 28,700 employees and its revenues stood at $7.17 billion in 2012.
