Private-sector development program DaNa Facility announced a call for applications to the Fintech Challenge Myanmar 2020 on January 21.
The aim of the challenge is to foster fintech solutions that can improve the quality and quantity of financial services to the underserved and unbanked.
DaNa Facility organizes the event in collaboration with the United Nations Capital Development Fund and the Asian Development Bank’s ADB Ventures as well as with financial support from UK Aid and in cooperation with the Central Bank of Myanmar and the Financial Regulatory Department.
“There is a revolution underway in financial services around the world, and Myanmar is going to soon be feeling the effects of disruptive new technologies on the financial services industry,” said Tom Moyes, DaNa Facility’s senior Access to Finance advisor.
“What UK Aid is most interested in – and keenly focused on – is fintech for financial inclusion,” said Tom Coward, team leader of UK Aid Myanmar’s Inclusive and Livelihoods Team. “The Fintech Challenge Myanmar has that laser focus on financial inclusion that is needed in Myanmar.”
Interested fintech companies may begin applying immediately via the website: http://fintech.danafacility.com/. Further program details, timelines and updates will be announced on the website.
Successful applicants will participate in a two-month period of collaboration and mentoring with a financial institution in order to fine-tune and adapt their fintech solution to the reality of the Myanmar market.
They will present their capabilities to a panel of financial industry players, financial experts and investors in a competitive “Initial Pitch Session”.
The best challenge candidates will demonstrate their products and services at the Myanmar Fintech Day scheduled for June 2020.

DaNa Facility က ကုလသမဂ္ဂရင်းနှီးမြှုပ်နှံမှုဖွံ့ဖြိုးရေးရန်ပုံငွေအဖွဲ့(UNCDF)၊ အာရှဖွံ့ဖြိုးရေးဘဏ်(ADB Ventures)အဖွဲ့အစည်းတို့နှင့် ပူးပေါင်း၍ ဇန်နဝါရီ ၂၁ ရက်တွင် အဆိုပါပြိုင်ပွဲကို စတင်ဖိတ်ခေါ်ခဲ့သည်။
