A Thai film festival will be held in Myanmar for the first time, bringing together Thailand’s most famous film stars.
The film festival, jointly organized by local firm Media 7 and Thailand-based Kanrana JK, will take place from 28 to 30 March at People’s Square in Yangon.
The entry to the festival will be free of charge.
The organisers said the event will promote and exchange cultural and media development between the two countries.
At the Thai Film Festival Yangon 2014, 59 film stars from Thailand as well as Myanmar actors and actresses will take part.
The festival will feature actors from the Pee Mak, Thailand’s highest grossing film of all time, which had been very popular in Myanmar. Pee Mak, an adaptation of the Mae Nak Phra Khanong legend of Thai folklore, is a comedy horror film directed by Banjong Pisanthanaku and was released in March 2013.
