The first Myanmar Business Forum will be held in April, U Win Myint, minister for commerce told Myanmar Business Today.
International organisations, foreign companies, investors, local businesses and government authorities will attend the discussions in this forum.
“There will be seminars and meetings regarding business challenges between government and private leaders before this forum. These discussions usually occur one time per week. The thoughts of business leaders, intellectuals, and experts were submitted to respective ministry departments through secretary offices of Yangon and Naypyitaw. If the problems can be solved immediately they will, otherwise a report will be submitted to upper levels of government,” said U Win Myint.
A total of 673 rules restricting trade and business have been repealed under this process. Notably, the government has issued individual border trade cards to reduce red tape in cross-border trade, while business licences that were formerly only available in Naypyitaw can now be applied for in Yangon and Mandalay.
