Construction of three hotels is underway in Kayin state’s capital of Hpa-An to accommodate the rising inflow of foreign tourists into the area, a minister said.
The three-star hotels are Royal Zwe Ga Bin Hotel, Thiri Hpa-An Hotel and Nyein Chan Yay (Peace) Hotel, which are expected to cater to foreign tourists and provide high-quality accommodation options, U Min Soe Thein, Kayin state’s planning and commerce minister, told Myanmar Business Today.
“The inflow of foreign tourists into Kayin state is accelerating, but there are not enough hotels. That’s why new hotels are being constructed and we will make sure we complete them as soon as possible,” he said.
Royal Zwe Ga Bin Hotel will offer 160 rooms, while Nyein Chan Yay will and Thiri Hpa-An will offer 22 and 80 rooms respectively.
Kayin state, which boasts many tourist attractions, including Bayint Nyin Cave and Hpa-An and Than Taung Gyi Hill, is in need of more hotels and restaurants and better quality of services, according to U Tin Tun Aung, joint secretary of Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA).
Currently, Kayin state has only four hotels with around 100 rooms available, causing accommodation shortages during peak season.
