Vietnamese information and technology company FPT Corp said it has won a contract to deploy Distribution Management System (DMS) for Myanmar Mayson Industries (MMI), a local firm in the field of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
FPT and MMI signed a contract to deploy DMS for the holding company and its seven branches with more than 200 salespeople across Myanmar.
The contract will be implemented by FSU3 under FPT Software within six months, the firm said. This is the first project of FPT Software in Myanmar and the first service project of FPT here.
MMI, the largest enterprise in Myanmar in the field of FMCG, specialises in manufacturing and distributing consumer goods such as cake, candy and drinks.
In 2013, the firm’s DMS was upgraded to eMobiz. Currently, eMobiz system has been deployed for over 10,000 salespersons, 1,100 distributors nationwide and 10 leading consumer goods companies in nine Southeast Asian countries. Businesses using the service include Unilever, PepsiCo Suntory, Ajinomoto, Kinh Do, Trung Nguyen, DHG and BP Castrol.
Myanmar is a potential market for products and services of Vietnam. According to Vietnam’s General Statistics Office, the country’s export to Myanmar was worth $117.8 million in 2012, $228 million in 2013 and $103.2 million in the first four months of 2014, up 46.29 percent over the same period last year.
The interest from Vietnamese enterprises and multinational companies in Myanmar’s FMCG, appliances, dairy, pharmaceutical and electrical products market is expected to create more opportunities for FPT Software to penetrate Myanmar market, the firm said.
