Local software firm Xan IT Solutions Co Ltd has launched an ebook store, through which customers will be able to buy and rent ebooks.
The website, which can be found at ebook.xan.com.mm, would allow a reader to preview and purchase books online and download them on their computers, mobiles or tablets using the company’s proprietary software.
“Readers need to login as a member. After registration, one can find the books according to the type or name of the author and buy it. Ebook can also be sent as gifts via this website,” said by U King Wun, managing director of Xan IT Solutions.
“Customers can check the books before buying and our prices are cheaper than others. Payment can be made via MyanPay, MPU, MPT or Visa, MasterCard, JCB and China Union Pay cards,” he added.
He said the company is currently in talks with the two foreign telecoms players in Myanmar, Ooredoo and Telenor, to arrange for the payment to be done through Ooredoo and Telenor phones.
The publishers are allowed to set prices of their books when they upload them on the website, of which they will get 50 percent when a book gets sold.
