A food-supplying Thai helicopter, which went missing Saturday on its mission to search two missing Myanmar mountaineers, crashed in Myanmar's northern Kachin state, sources with the Htoo Foundation said on Tuesday.
Local authorities, receiving information from villagers in Naung Mon area at about 3 a.m. local time Tuesday (2100 GMT Monday) , have reported to the town of Putao where various searching missions are based.
On board the helicopter were a Thai pilot and two Myanmar pilots.
The army and regional police were trying to access the crash site as informed by the villagers.
The helicopter, an Advance Aviation B-4, which backs the search and rescue operation of two missing Myanmar mountaineers earlier, lost contact with the ground on its way to the base camp, 20 minutes after it took off from the Putao airport at 2:20 p.m. local time Saturday (0820 GMT).
