Mitsubishi Electric to Expand Electric System Business in Myanmar

Mitsubishi Electric Corp announced that it has signed a technical licence agreement with Asia General Transformer Co Ltd (AGT) to supply the Myanmar-based manufacturer with design and supervisory technical support for the production of 100MVA 230/66kV oil-immersed core-form transformers.

Mitsubishi Electric said it will provide electrical design documents, technical assistance, technical training and consultation to enable AGT to manufacture the transformers.

Mitsubishi Electric currently is providing technical support for medium-voltage switchgear to AGT’s sister company, Asia General Electric Co Ltd (AGE).

AGE and AGT are both owned by Asia General Holdings Co Ltd (AGH).

Myanmar, a country with significant economic growth potential, has increasing demands for power-supply equipment, including high-voltage transformers.

Mitsubishi Electric said it aims to tap Myanmar’s energy infrastructure needs through its technical licence agreements with AGH group companies.
