Motors.com.mm Rolls Out Local App for Android Devices

Myanmar-based online car classified site Motors.com.mm has launched a mobile application which will allow users to trade cars on the go.

Vehicle marketplace Motors, founded in 2012, offers buyers, sellers and car dealers a platform to find cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles online.

Hosting over 10,500 vehicles online, Motor’s app will give users an experience of buying cars while on the move, thus allowing them the same sense of ease and comfort out and about as they would experience in front of their PCs at home, the company said, adding that the app is set to “change the experience of shopping” for local car  enthusiasts locally in Myanmar.

The app features the same usability and filter functions as its computer counterpart motors.com.mm. Customers can filter searches by any means that they wish, from brand to model and year to price.

Users can also share listings on various social platforms to gain opinions from friends and family if they are unsure. In addition, the Motors app allows for favoriting of listings so that they get instant notifications on their favourite rides.

Stefan Haubold, co-founder and global managing director of Carmudi and Motors in Myanmar, said, “We want to bring the massive choice of cars to the fingertips of our users in Myanmar. This is a huge milestone for Motors.”

He said the app will allow millions of users across Myanmar to find their dream car in just a single tap.

“We already have over one million users visiting our website every month. Motors is changing the way consumers search and shop for cars.

“With mobile phones accounting for more than a third of the internet usage in the emerging world, Motors app will further strengthen its dominance there.”

Emerging economies are a hotbed for smartphone usage with the expectation of a 33 percent increase in the number of smartphones that are shipped to such nations as compared to 7 percent in the developed world. Android is the most popular mobile operating system worldwide with over 52 percent market share.

Motors.com.mm said the app will allow users to search for the vehicles they want by brand, model and price. They can also use further refined filters such as age, mileage and color to make sure that they are able to find exactly what they want. More features will be added to the app shortly, the company said.

Motors.com.mm said the business platform operates under “a high level of transparency” through professional photos, updated listings, detailed descriptions, reports and rankings for 100 percent of its vehicles in each market.

Vehicle dealers will also get an online presence through a personalised webpage.

The app is available to Android users in 17 countries including emerging markets like Bangladesh, Philippines, Pakistan, Mexico and UAE, where Motors has its regional sites.
