The construction of the Myanmar Aquarium will start at Kandawgyi Garden in Yangon later this month, authorities said.
The Myanmar Aquarium, a 20,000 square metre tourist development set against Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon, will showcase 45 species of local fresh water and salt water fish.
The design of the main building of the aquarium and “Under Water World” will be provided by Singapore-based Surbana Consultants Pte Ltd, with SIPM Consultants Pte Ltd responsible for the construction management.
Last October, Myanmar Aquariums Co Ltd won the tender from the Department of Fisheries to build the Myanmar Aquarium project.
The aquarium is expected to open in December 2015.
