Myanmar Railways said it will invite tenders from businesses to invest in the construction of commercial buildings, restaurants, playgrounds and parking space on the land owned by the state-run enterprise near Pazundaung and Kyeemyindaing stations.
The rules for the tenders, which will be floated this year, are currently being prepared, said U Zaw Phay Sein, manager of Myanmar Railways.
The officials are conducting assessments on three plots near Kyeemyindaing station and two plots around Pazundaung station for the construction projects.
However, the government staff living in housings which fall in the project area will have to move to Ywar Thar Gyi in South Dagon township.
“Ywar Thar Gyi is quite far away. It would be better if they can arrange a place somewhere closer,” said U Thein Myint, a railway employee living in employee housing on Kyeemyindaing station compound.
