Myanmar Satellite Forum in November

Myanmar Satellite Forum will be held on November 19 alongside Communicast 2014 at Myanmar Event Park in Yangon, the organisers said.

A number of global satellite operators are expected to attend the Myanmar Satellite Forum during CommuniCast 2014 in Myanmar.

The forum will be an opportunity for the satellite sector to present itself in force to the Myanmar telecoms industry, the organisers added.

Myanmar is expected to launch its own telecoms satellite within five years as it moves towards its aim of satellite sovereignty.

International satellite operators, manufacturers and launch providers including APT Satellite Company, Arianespace, AsiaSat, Comsys, Ericsson, Eutelsat, GlobalNET, Hughes, Newtec, O3B Networks, Optus, Orbital Science, SES, Speedcast Thales Alenia Space and YTP Teleport, are expected to take part in the event.

The main topics of the forum will cover the role for satellite throughout Myanmar, digital villages and community access points, the opportunity for broadband panels to stimulate rapid economic development, the importance of e-Government, and distance learning and e-Health.

U Thaung Tin, deputy minister for communications and information technology, will give the keynote address.
