The Central Bank of Myanmar will issue K5,000 banknotes in a new design aimed at increasing its security and prevention from forgery, state-run radio and TV announced.
The new banknote will be put into circulation starting October 1, it said, adding that the existing K5,000 currency notes will remain legal.
The Central Bank introduced the K5,000 banknote on October 1, 2009.
There are 11 kinds of bank notes currently in circulation in Myanmar which are K1, K5, K10, K20, K50, K100, K200, K500, K1,000, K5,000 and K10,000.
