The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population and Austria’s OeSD company is working together to sign an agreement under the government to government collaboration to implement the e-ID system, which is essential to e-government.
As a prerequisite effort for the project, U Thein Swe, Union Minister of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, urged officials to find a way on how to do awareness-raising campaigns on the e-ID project.
The ministry has requested comments on the e-ID project to be implemented by OeSD from the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Union Attorney General’s Office and DACU.
The proposal from OeSD only includes issuing Unique ID and the rest, including issuing cards, building infrastructure and network, and administration costs, must be implemented using government funding.
The government has been trying to shift to e-government for years aiming to provide public services through online platforms.
UN’s sustainable development goals include issuing everyone an ID card by 2030 and the government with the assistant of 50 companies/ organizations including the World Bank, has conducted a pilot survey for issuing a Smart ID card.
The Union government is pushing to remove the current paper National Registration Card in favor of a smartcard that contains a computer chip detailing personal information of the holder such as photograph, address, employment, blood type, and finger print.

အစိုးရသည် e- Government ကို အကောင်အထည်ဖော် ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ရှိရာတွင် ပြည်သူများကို ဝန်ဆောင်မှုပေးနေရသည့် ဝန်ကြီးဌာနသည် Online စနစ်ဖြင့် ဝန်ဆောင်မှုပေးနိုင်ရန် ဝန်ကြီးဌာနများ အားလုံး အသုံးပြုနိုင်မည့် Single Platform တစ်ခုတည်ဆောက်ရန် လိုအပ်လျက်ရှိနေသည်။
ကုလသမဂ္ဂ၏ စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ် ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်ရေး ရည်မှန်းချက်တွင် သက္ကရာဇ် ၂၀၃၀ ၌ လူတိုင်း မွေးစာရင်း အပါအဝင် မှတ်ပုံတင်(၁) ခုရရှိရေး ပါဝကာ နိုင်ငံသား ကတ်ပြားကို နိုင်ငံတကာ အဆင့်မီ Smart Card ဖြင့် ပြောင်းလဲထုတ်ပေးနိုင်ရန် လေ့လာဆန်းစစ်မှုများ ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့သည်။
ကနဦး လေ့လာ ဆန်းစစ်ခြင်းကို ဆောင်ရွက်ရာတွင် ကမ္ဘာ့ဘဏ် အပါအဝင် ကုမ္ပဏီ/ အဖွဲ့အစည်း (၅၀) ကျော်တို့၏ ရှင်းလင်းဆွေး နွေးလေ့လာသုံးသပ်ခြင်း၊ အခြားဝန်ကြီးဌာနများ ပါဝင်သော အလုပ်ရုံဆွေးနွေးပွဲများ ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်ခြင်း တို့ကို ဆောင်ရွက်ခဲ့သည်။
လေ့လာချက်များ အရ ကမ္ဘာ့နိုင်ငံများတွင် လူဦးရေ မှတ်ပုံတင်ခြင်း (Population Registration)နှင့် နိုင်ငံသား မှတ်ပုံတင်ခြင်း (National Registration) ဟူ၍ အဓိကအားဖြင့် စနစ်(၂)မျိုးရှိ တာကိုတွေ့ ရှိကြောင်းသိရသည်။
