Japanese communications giant NTT Ltd., the parent company of Yangon-based NTT Myanmar, has invested $400 million to commence construction of MIST large-capacity submarine communications cable linking Singapore, Myanmar and the Indian cities of Mumbai and Chennai.
The project is part of NTT’s strategic joint venture with Orient Link Pte. Ltd. for international submarine cables to improve data speed and reduce latency in Southeast Asia.
“Upon the completion of this project, we will be able to offer fiber internet at a lower price,” said U Thiha Kyaw, deputy country manager of NTT Myanmar, adding that the company has yet to set the price.
“This project will assist Myanmar’s development,” he added.
The 11,000 k.m. long maritime cable will support 240Tbps/12FP and will be ready to provide service to customers in June 2022.
“Since NTT build and execute this project ourselves and not in partnership with anyone for construction, we can control the quality of the cable to ensure better service for customers,” said Sutas Kongdumrongkiat, NTT’s CEO for Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
Myanmar has three fiber cables in Phyabon, Pathein and Ngwe Saung townships.
NTT Myanmar has said it aims to support organizations across the educational and financial sectors and develop related ICT human resources to cope with smart innovations.
NTT, which provides intelligent technology solutions, employs 40,000 people and delivers services in over 200 countries around the world.

ယင်းစီမံကိန်းသည် (အင်တာနက်)ဒေတာအမြန်နှုန်းတိုးမြင့်လာစေရန်နှင့် Latency (ဒေတာများ တစ်နေရာမှ တစ်နေရာသို့ ရောက်ရှိရန် ကြာမြင့်ချိန်) လျော့ကျစေရန် ရည်ရွယ်ချက်ဖြင့် Orient link Pte. Ltd နှင့် မဟာဗျူဟာမြောက် ပူးပေါင်း၍ အရှေ့တောင်အာရှဒေသအတွင်း ဆောင်ရွက်နေသည့် နိုင်ငံတကာ ရေအောက်ကေဘယ် တည်ဆောက်ရေး မဟာဗျူဟာမြောက် စီမံကိန်းများ၏ တစ်စိတ်တစ်ပိုင်းဖြစ်သည်။
“ ဒီစီမံကိန်း ပြီးရင်တော့ ဖိုက်ဘာ(အင်တာနက်)တွေကို သက်သာတဲ့ ဈေးနှုန်းတွေနဲ့ ရောင်းချနိုင်အောင် ဆောင်ရွက်သွားမယ်။ ဈေးနှုန်းတွေကို အတိအကျ သတ်မှတ်ရခြင်းမရှိသေးပါဘူး။ ဒီစီမံကိန်းက မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအတွက် အများကြီး အထောက်အကူပြုမှာပါ” ဟု NTT Myanmar Co., Ltd မှ Deputy Country Manager ဦးသီဟကျော်က ပြောသည်။
ရေအောက် ကေဘယ်၏ capacity မှာ (တစ်မိနစ်လျှင် ဒေတာမြန်နှုန်း) 240 Tbps/ 12FP ရှိပြီး သုံးနိုင်ငံကို ချိတ်ဆက်သွားမည့် ကေဘယ်အရှည်မှာ 11000km ရှိကြောင်း သိရသည်။ စီမံကိန်းကို ယခုလမှစတင်၍ အကောင်အထည်ဖော် ဆောင်ရွက်နေပြီး ၂၀၂၂ခုနှစ် ဇွန်လတွင် ပြည်သူများကို စတင်၍ ဝန်ဆောင်မှုပေးနိုင်မည်ဖြစ်သည်။
“ ဒီစီမံကိန်းကို တခြားအဖွဲ့အစည်းနဲ့ ပူးပေါင်းလုပ်ဆောင်တာမဟုတ်ဘဲ NTT ကနေသာ လုပ်ဆောင်တာ ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက် ပြည်သူတွေကို ဝန်ဆောင်မှုပေးတဲ့အခါမှာ အရည်အသွေးကောင်းမွန်အောင် ထိန်းချုပ်လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်မှာဖြစ်ပါတယ် ” ဟု NTT Ltd မှ ထိုင်း၊ ကမ္ဘောဒီးယား၊ လာအို၊နှင့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအတွက် အမှှုဆောင်အရာရှိချုပ် Mr. Sutas Kongdumrongkait က ပြောသည်။
အဆိုပါ ရေအောက်ကေဘယ် စီမံကိန်းထူထောင်နိုင်မှုကြောင့် ဒေတာစီမံခန့်ခွဲမှု ဆော့ဝဲလ်နည်းပညာများ အလျင်အမြန်တိုးတက်လာပြီး မြန်မာ့ဒီဂျစ်တယ်စီးပွားရေး အကောင်အထည်ဖော် ဆောင်ရွက်နေမှုများကို များစွာအထောက်အကူပြုမည်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း သိရသည်။
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင် ရေအောက်ကေဘယ်လ်ကြိုးသုံးကြောင်း ရှိပြီး ယင်းကေဘယ်လ်ကြိုးများမှာ ဖျာပုံမြို့နယ်၊ပုသိမ်မြို့နယ်နှင့် ငွေဆောင်မြို့နယ်တို့တွင်ရှိခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။
