Ooredoo has launched weekly and monthly packages for its customers to use instant messaging app Viber with lower data tariffs, the Qatari telecoms firm said.
The “Chat Weekly” package allows customers to get 35 megabytes (MB) of Viber usage for K300 per week, and “Chat Monthly” users can get 150MB for K1,000 per month, the mobile carrier said in a statement.
Users can subscribe to these packages through “My Ooredoo” application, which can be downloaded for free, or calling *133# and following instructions, or sending a text “ViberW”/ “ViberM” to 2238.
However, the data allowance doesn’t cover calls made through Viber, it only covers messaging and sending photos or stickers.
Data used to make calls through Viber will be deducted from the user’s default account, Ooredoo said.
