Startup incubator Phandeeyar has made a $25,000 investment in Yangon-based startup Resdi as part of its newly launched Investment initiative. Resdi’s one-of-a-kind restaurant bookings and discounts app will also be added to the list of Phandeeyar’s portfolio startups.
The new investment will allow Resdi to expand its team, fuel product development and deliver the app to a significantly wider audience.
The name Resdi is short for ‘Restaurant Discount’ and the app attracts people by offering restaurant bookings and discounts at off-peak hours.
“We have been following them since launch, and have been impressed by their initial growth,” said Jes Kaliebe Petersen, CEO of Phandeeyar. “With this new investment, they will be able to capture the market for restaurant promotions and deals in Yangon, and later on in other cities in Myanmar. We are looking forward to working with them on this journey.”
Although more restaurants have entered the market, customers continue to pay the same prices between peak hours and off-peak hours and have to endure long lines at their favorite restaurants. Resdi enables users to book their favorite restaurants and get off-peak-hour promotions.
Phandeeyar supports startups by providing investments individually for early-stage tech startups in Myanmar. From this initiative, the startup incubator will continue to invest in pre-seed and seed-stage startups. Phandeeyar’s portfolio currently includes 17 startups.
“Phandeeyar’s financial, mentorship and network support have helped startups like us in pursuing our goals and dreams,” said Resdi co-founder Zay Ye Htut. “This new investment will be integral in allowing Resdi to optimize the current tech-infrastructure, expand the user base to get more traffic as well as provide superior services.”
Phandeeyar offers hands-on and hands-off support for portfolio startups as well as emerging new founders and startups. It has also been providing human resources, financial resources and its network to promising tech startups in Myanmar and enabling an environment for tech startups to benefit from opportunities and investments.

နိုင်ငံအတွင်း ငတ်မွတ်ခေါင်းပါးမှု အဆုံးသတ်ကာ ထိရောက်သည့် ပံ့ပိုးကူညီမှုများ ပြုလုပ်နိုင်ရန် ကုလသမဂ္ဂ ကမ္ဘာ့စားနပ်ရိက္ခာအစီအစဉ် (WFP)နှင့် ရင်းနှီးမြှုပ်နှံမှုနှင့် နိုင်ငံခြားစီးပွားဆက်သွယ်ရေး ဝန်ကြီးဌာနတို့ နားလည်မှု စာချွန်လွှာ လက်မှတ်ရေးထိုးခဲ့ကြောင်း ထုတ်ပြန်ချက်အရ သိရသည်။
အဆိုပါ နားလည်မှုစာချွန်လွှာအရ WTP ၏ ငါးနှစ်တာမြန်မာနိုင်ငံဆိုင်ရာ မဟာဗျူဟာစီမံချက် အကောင်အထည်ဖော် ဆောင်ရွက်ရာတွင် နှစ်ဖက်အဖွဲ့အစည်းပူးပေါင်းလုပ်ဆောင်ရမည်ဖြစ်ပြီး အဆိုပါ စီမံချက်သည် ကချင်ပြည်နယ်၊ ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်နှင့် ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်အပါအဝင် အခြားသော တိုင်းနှင့် ပြည်နယ်များရှိ ပဋိမက္ခဘေးဒဏ်သင့် လူထုနှင့် ထိခိုက်လွယ်သော လူဦးရေ ၁ သန်းကျော် တို့အတွက် နှစ်စဉ် စားနပ်ရိက္ခာဖူလုံမှုနှင့် အာဟာရပြည့်မီမှု ရရှိစေရေး လက်တွဲ လုပ်ဆောင်သွားမည်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း သိရသည်။
“ အခုလို လက်မှတ်ရေးထိုးလိုက်တာဟာ ငတ်မွတ်ခေါင်းပါးမှု အဆုံးသတ်ရေးအတွက် နိုင်ငံတော်အစိုးရ အနေနဲ့ WFPနဲ့ အတူ လက်တွဲပြီး မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအတွင်းမှာ တွေ့ကြုံခံစားနေရတဲ့ စားနပ်ရိက္ခာနဲ့ အာဟာရချို့တဲ့မှုတွေကို ရင်ဆိုင်ဖြေရှင်းကြဖို့ ခိုင်မာတဲ့ သန္နိဌာန်တစ်ရပ်ပါပဲ ” ဟု WFP ၏ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဆိုင်ရာ ဌာနေကိုယ်စားလှယ် Mr. Stephen Anderson က ပြောသည်။
စားနပ်ရိက္ခာ ဖူလုံမှုရရှိစေရန်သာမက နိုင်ငံအဆင့်နှင့် တိုင်းဒေသကြီး ပြည်နယ်အဆင့် အရေးပေါ် အခြေအနေ ကြိုတင်ပြင်ဆင်မှုနှင့် တုံ့ပြန်မှု လုပ်ငန်းများကိုလည်း အလေးပေးဆောင်ရွက်သွားမည်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း သိရသည်။
“ WFP ရဲ့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဆိုင်ရာ မဟာဗျူဟာ စီမံချက်မှာပါရှိတဲ့ ဦးစားပေးလုပ်ငန်းတွေ၊ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်တွေဟာ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကို ရေရှည်တည်တံ့ခိုင်မြဲပြီး ဟန်ချက်ညီတဲ့ ဖွံ့ဖြိုးမှုစီမံကိန်းရဲ့ ရည်မှန်းချက်တွေပြည့်မှီဖို့ အထောက်အကူပြုနိုင်မှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်” ဟု နိုင်ငံခြားစီးပွားဆက်သွယ်ရေး ဦးစီးဌာနမှ ညွှန်ကြားရေးမှူးချုပ် ဦးသန်းအောင်ကျော်က ထပ်မံဖြည့်စွက် ပြောသည်။
WFP သည် လက်ရှိတွင် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင် ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်ရှိ စစ်ဘေးရှောင်အပါအဝင် စားနပ်ရိက္ခာလောက်ငှမှုမရှိသော ဘေးသင့် လူဦးရေ ၂၄၀၀၀၀၊ ကချင်ပြည်နယ်ရှိ စစ်ဘေးရှောင် ၄၅၀၀၀ ဦး၊ ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်တွင် ၁၄၀၀၀ဦးတို့ကို ကူညီထောက်ပံ့ပေးလျက်ရှိသည်။ နိုဝင်ဘာလမှစတင်ကာ ချင်းပြည်နယ်၊ ပလက်ဝမြို့နယ်ရှိ စစ်ဘေးရှောင် လူဦးရေ ၆၀၀ကျော်ထံသို့လည်း တိုးချဲ့ ထောက်ပံ့ပေးမှုများ ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ကြောင်း သိရသည်။
