Red Link Communications Co is planning to set up free wi-fi access zones in all the major markets in Yangon, U Myo Min Nyunt, a spokesperson for the internet service provider told Myanmar Business Today.
The company is holding talks with members of the management committees from the Bogyoke market and Theingyi market where the free Wi-Fi zones will be set up first and the busy areas will be prioritised to receive high-speed wi-fi access.
The free wi-fi zones will be equipped with high-speed internet systems to enable the users to check emails and browse the web.
“The user will be automatically logged out after about thirty minutes of using the free wi-fi and they can log back in. It’s similar to the practice used internationally in providing free wi-fi access. We will also try to ensure high internet speed,” said U Myo Min Nyunt.
Red Link has set up free wi-fi zones in 10 locations across the country including Yangon International Airport, Yangon University and Bagan cultural area. Having introduced the free wi-fi zones in 2012, the company is planning to expand the zones into other towns and cities in Myanmar.
