Shan State to Develop Fisheries

The Shan State Fisheries Department announced that it will lend a total of K240 million ($233,800) in eight villages in Nyaung Shwe township of Shan state in a bid to develop the fisheries industry there.

The department will lend K30 million per village and will distribute the funds as part of the “Mya Sein Yaung” project around Inle Lake area, U Tin Htun Aung, head of the department, told Myanmar Business Today.

“We have specifically allocated this money for the fishery sector. We chose Nyaung Shwe township for our pilot project, and expect to expand the program to other townships later,” U Tin Htun Aung added.

The eight villages under the project are Ma Kyee Htate, Yay Thar, Min Chaung Shae, Ai Htaung Gyi, Min, Naung Taw Lay Myay, Thale Oo and Mai Thauk.
