Telenor has begun to distribute a new series of SIM cards with phone numbers beginning with “78”, where previous cards began with “79”.

The Norwegian firm’s network began operations in September last year, and since then it has gathered 6.4 million users in 10 states and regions around the country.

“Telenor Myanmar has produced approximately 1.5 million SIM cards per month, but we cannot disclose the exact number,” a company spokesperson told Myanmar Business Today.

The firm has 1,850 towers in the whole country and it announced that 3,000 to 4,000 towers will be constructed by the end of 2015.

Most recently, the company extended its services to Myitkyina in Kachin State on May 7.

Telenor Myanmar is providing service at K25 per minute for calls, and K3.8-10 per megabyte of data and K15 per SMS.
