Thailand is aiming to develop a stronger business relationship with Myanmar by organising business matchmaking fairs, a top Thai official said.
“Myanmar and Thailand are neighbouring countries and also close business partners. To tighten the business relationship between two countries, we need more collaboration and cooperation in business,” said Boon Intiratana, counselor (commercial), Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy.
One such fair, Thailand Week Bizmatch Fair 2014, was held from May 4-5 at Tatmadaw Hall in Yangon.
“Entrepreneurs from Thailand seek small and medium entrepreneur partners in Myanmar. So, we introduced Myanmar entrepreneurs with Thailand’s high quality businesses and products,” Intiratana said.
There were also business conclaves at the Bizmatch Fair and Thai cuisine cooking sessions for the public.
“Holding such fairs be beneficial to improve the partnership between the two countries. As Myanmar is a long-term business partner of Thailand, it makes sense to do more business collaboration with Myanmar,” a Thai entrepreneur commented.
