The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Yangon 2020 offering one million brand-new books at 50-90 percent discounts will be held at Myanmar Expo Hall at Fortune Plaza in Thaketa Township from January 10 to 20.
The sale will include both Myanmar and English books.
“There are books left unsold at publishers and we manage to buy them at very reasonable prices. Thus, we can sell them at the best prices to our readers,” said Jacqueline Ng, co-founder of Big Bad Wolf Books.
Readers of all interests will find bestselling titles, novels, science fiction, romance, literature, graphic novels, business books, self-help, architecture books, cookbooks and much more at the event. A large selection of children’s books will be available — from storybooks to activity books, board books, coloring books, picture books and interactive books.
“Last year, we introduced the Magical Books for the first time and parents were excited to purchase the books for their children as they are a tool to encourage young ones to read,” Ms. Ng said. “In 2020, parents can expect a wider selection of the Magical Books, also known as Augmented Reality (AR) books, at the Sale.”
The Magical Books come to life as the characters speak, dance and sing, getting children more excited to read and learn.
“We organize this book sale to bring English books at affordable prices to our local readers and to our young people,” said U Myo Aung, director of Ready 2 Read Myanmar.
In 2019, the event arrived for the first time in Myanmar. It was also held in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and the UAE. The events in Yangon and Mandalay attracted over 250,000 people and children’s books sales made up 35 percent of total sales, non-fiction books, 40 percent and novels, 20 percent.
