Tourism will add the most number of jobs in Myanmar between 2015-25, according to a survey of 180 countries by the World Travels and Tourism Council (WTTC).
In 2013, the tourism industry was 40th in terms of employment, but rose to 3rd in 2014. The potential impact of tourism was reported WTTC’s analysis.
“Currently we have been emphasising on ecotourism, which can attract more tourists. The employment of locals will also be increased through this,” said U Naung Naung Han, secretary of Myanmar Tourism Association.
Myanmar’s tourism industry currently employs 500,000 to 600,000 people.
