Turkey and Myanmar have signed for the first time a bilateral civil aviation agreement that will enable airlines to fly between the two countries.
Under the negotiations carried out between Turkey and Myanmar civil aviation executives in Yangon, airlines will be able to initiate flights and share codes – an aviation business arrangement where two or more airlines share the same flight, between Yangon and Istanbul, according to Turkey’s General Directorate of State Airports Authority.
Turkey has signed similar aviation agreements with 162 countries.
The deal will finally pave the way for Turkish Airlines, the country’s national flag-carrier, to kick start its scheduled flights to and from Yangon.
